The Director, Global Scientific Communications & Training will plan, develop, and review key MSL scientific resources and tools, primarily product and disease state slide decks, product summaries/topic outlines, and other MSL materials across multiple therapeutic areas. He/she will also provide an advanced level of scientific/clinical review of MSL and CMO-related resources and tools for accuracy, consistency, and inclusion of most recent clinical/scientific data/information. The Director will also provide scientifically rigorous training, competency assessment and ongoing development to MSL members for achieving and maintaining expert level scientific knowledge competencies in multiple disease states and products. The scope of the role will include support of both US and International CMO MSL teams as needed, dependent upon role-specific Therapeutic Area.
This position is an open position within the Global Scientific Communications & Training team.
This is a field based role and can reside anywhere in the US or overseas*
Main Areas of Responsibilities
Plans, develops and critically reviews MSL and CMO-related scientific resources and tools, primarily clinical presentation slide decks, educational materials, and reactive field materials in collaboration with MSL management, Medical Affairs and other internal teams and ensures MSL field resource content is aligned and consistent with the medical strategy as well as identified needs in the field. Additional involvement in content development/review may include CMO Ad Board slide decks and CMO Medical Booth materials.
Leads MSL training in key competencies regarding disease state awareness, current treatment landscape, and new product clinical data. Works with MSL TA Directors/Medical Directors to develop a product/disease state training strategy and implement training plan. Educational materials and training initiatives include (but are not limited to) therapeutic training binders and modules, clinical presentation/competency assessments, written competency assessments, etc. Develops assessment plans and conducts oral presentation and written product competency assessments in conjunction with the MSL Management. Reviews literature alerts and competitive intelligence reports gathered at medical meetings to ensure MSL team scientific content and training is current and ahead of scientific community.
Independently provides an advanced level of strategic development and scientific/clinical review of resources and tools for accuracy, consistency, and inclusion of most recent clinical/scientific data/information across multiple product portfolios.
Provides expanded support for scientifically rigorous training, competency assessment and ongoing development to MSL team members for achieving and maintaining expert level scientific knowledge competencies in multiple disease states and products.
Ability to identify unmet needs related to scientific content training as well as materials for field use and develop strategy plans to address these needs that is aligned with overall CMO strategy.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines and industry trends; knowledge of product lifecycle management; ability to critically analyze scientific data and objectively and concisely summarize key findings.
Problem solving related to review processes, including reconciling reviewer comments and recommendations related to scientific content of MSL field materials. Additional problem solving around scientific training needs, operations and systems management.
Advanced level of scientific/clinical strategic approach required for the development and review of resources, training and tools for accuracy, consistency, and inclusion of most recent clinical/scientific data/information to ensure high degree of MSL impact in the field.
The scope of the role and the related responsibilities requires substantial collaboration with MSL Management and Global Medical Affairs as well as cross-functional internal groups (e.g., CMO teams, Compliance, IT, Regulatory, Legal, and Clinical Development).
5 years of previous MSL or related pharmaceutical industry experience, clinical experience preferred
Strong knowledge of Pharma regulatory and compliance guidelines
A solid scientific background and the ability to critically review and analyze scientific literature.
Excellent written, oral, presentation skills and creative/strategic thinking
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and interface in a dynamic environment.
A background in neurology is desirable
