The Regional Account Manager (RAM) is responsible for gaining and maintaining access, reimbursement, and policies for Allergan’s Pharmaceutical products at regional HMOs, PBMs and Integrated Health Networks. The RAM represents Allergan with these critical customers and is charged with engaging with them to successfully implement brand strategy but to also enhance the overall strategic relationship with these customers. The RAM also uses the knowledge gained from engagement with regional customers to provide input into brand forecasts and strategies and to monitor and develop tactics for engaging customers in the changing healthcare environment. Finally and critically, the RAM is responsible for partnering with the sales organization, providing information, insights and where appropriate plans related to reimbursement and access to maximize sales opportunities.
This critical position calls for an energetic and experienced leader, one with excellent technical skills a strategic and creative thinker, and good judgment. RAMs report to Managed Care Area Directors.
Region: Upstate NY, Vermont, New Hampshire
The RAM is responsible for the following actions:
Gain and maintain product access and reimbursement with regional managed care payers. The RAM is responsible for the entire Allergan pharmaceutical portfolio.
Enhance the strategic relationship with regional payers, developing a long-term partnership that endures over many years. The RAM should have relationships and access to stakeholders throughout their customers and implement a long term engagement plan with NAM, CADs, and executives at Allergan and the payers.
Partner with the local sales teams to maximize sales efforts within the region. The RAM is expected to be the expert on local market dynamics and to consistently find opportunities to enhance sales efforts. The RAM should provide excellent insight and customer service to local sales counterparts and sales leadership.
Gather local market insights and develop new access tactics. The pace of change in the US healthcare market continues to accelerate and much of the change is occurring at the local and regional level. The RAM is in a unique position to understand changes in healthcare reimbursement and delivery and is expected to identify the changes and work closely with managed care colleagues to develop new strategies and tactics based on these changes.
At least five (5) years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry.
Advanced understanding of the managed healthcare environment and the pharmaceutical sales and reimbursement process.
Proven ability to interact effectively with external and internal stakeholders and to operate independently.
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret disparate data sets and develop plans and strategies based on quantitative analysis.
Strong negotiation and facilitation skills
Ability to learn, sell and prioritize multiple products and customer challenges
Outstanding oral, written, and group communication skills.
Excellent leadership skills: positive energy, relentless approach to achieving results, excellent people skills and ability to form partnerships with all stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to influence others with and without authority.
