Position Overview

This individual and position will be responsible for leading the Pharmaceutical Technology Biologics group within the Global Pharmaceutical Technology (GPT) organization in Global Operations. This position is responsible for supporting and managing biologics API technical process support within operations, as well as providing analytical support for biologics products for both new products co-development and technology transfer, as well as marketed product support. The Biologics Pharm Tech group currently has 16 positions located in Irvine CA, Campbell CA, and North Brunswick NJ. The Irvine GPT Group maintains a new and dedicated “state of the art” biologics process and analytical center.

  • This individual will be responsible for supporting existing commercial biologics API processes, including optimizations, remediations, technology transfer and qualification of new and alternate suppliers as needed, as well as analytical method development and testing support for both biologics API’s and products.

  • This individual will lead and manage support of biologics API technology transfer strategy and execution for new API processes from R&D into commercial manufacturing, including technical leadership for biologics process development, scale-up and technology transfer to manufacturing, including successful validation. This position will be an active member of biologic products development teams and will work collaboratively with R&D, QA , BD, Procurement, Third Party MFG and MFG operations counterparts.

The Global Pharmaceutical Technology organization is based in Madison NJ and has approximately 250+ people located in 15 locations around world. The Global Pharmaceutical Technology organization has a strong collaborative culture with expertise and functionality focusing on prescription products, device products, Biologics, small molecule APIs, packaging technology, analytical technology, material characterization, product transfer and launch management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop Biologics GPT Group: manage budget

  • Own and manage Irvine GPT Biologic Center and facility

  • Actively participate on GPT leadership team

  • New Products API technology transfer & commercialization: process and analytical

  • Assess & support implementation of new process and analytical technologies

  • Provide technical support for existing commercial biologics API processes and methods

  • Monitor and keep API processes in compliance and validated state

  • Represent Operations and support BD due diligences



  • High technical expertise of biologic API processes/products; strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Superior leadership, communication and collaboration skills with R&D, Engineering, QA, Operations Manufacturing

  • 10+ years Dev. and Manufacturing experience with Biologics process development and commercialization


  • BS/PhD Degree in Bio Technology Science and Engineering
