The Sr.Manager, Business Insights and Analytics is responsible for providing a high level of evidence-based, strategic guidance for brand and senior management on assigned brands and therapeutic areas. Through the analyses of market research, competitive intelligence and business analytics, the Sr Manager/Associate Director will ensure that marketing and business decision-making is supported by timely, accurate and cost-effective data and analysis. He/she also maintains a vigilant watch over the health of his/her assigned brands, alerting brand management and corporate executives of emerging opportunities and threats, through insightful integration of marketplace data, primary research, trends in secondary analytics and competitive intelligence at his/her disposal. This individual will play a critical role as a trusted and respected partner to the Brand team, as he/she is a participant in all discussions on assigned brand and therapeutic market strategy development.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Manage marketing research and business analytics activities and reporting for assigned therapeutic area.
Develop proactive data-mined analyses to uncover actionable insights and business opportunities.
Provide analytical ad hoc support. Support marketing and sales efforts quantitatively, through data mining to reveal both product and market trends and by answering key business questions.
Develop and maintain forecast models for products/therapeutic areas
Support marketing and strategic planning process by evaluating market conditions, understanding competitive landscape, identifying growth opportunities and assisting in the development of tactical and strategic plans to grow
Perform primary market research to answer broader business questions
Develop and maintain business rules for use of data sets from both third party data vendors and internal data sources and analytics teams. This includes maintenance of standardized market and product definitions for promoted products.
Engage with sales & marketing and liaise with modelers to design and measure promotion response analyses and models to provide insights and recommendations that optimize targeting and sampling for different customer segments.
With modelers, co-construct customer segmentation to support brand strategy, including patient profiles and other behavioral analysis.
Continually update knowledge of industry data sources & techniques that could be used to improve Allergan’s commercial analysis.
A minimum of 5 years of appropriate business experience in a medical or consumer marketing research or business analytics function in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or consulting firm.
Strong analytical skills with fluency in the use of a wide range of secondary data sources including, but not limited to: standard sales, prescription, medical, and promotional audits, as well as general business and pharmaceutical industry sources of intelligence is required. Experience with longitudinal patient, specialty pharmacy/ hub data preferred.
Knowledge of the design and conduct of a broad array of primary market research approaches, both quantitative and qualitative, of all degrees of sophistication is required.
Strong familiarity in one or more of the following therapeutic areas is required: PC,GI, CNS, EYE, NEURO, Women’s Health, Anti-infective; as well as a broad understanding of US healthcare and pharmaceutical industry issues and trends, which he/she routinely integrates into strategies for assigned brands is required.
Ability to frame and communicate issues in strategic terms, sound consultative skills and good business sense is required.
Crisp and persuasive oral and written communication skills driven by solid business logic is necessary for success in this role as is the ability to function effectively in matrix teams.
Fluency in Excel, Access and in PowerPoint is required.
Experience using business insights tools such as Business Objects, SAS, Tableau or COGNOS is preferred. SAS code-writing skills preferred, SQL query-writing is required
Use of trade data (867/852) is required
- BS/BA required. Degree in quantitative subject (e.g. Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics) preferred
